\noindent Dear People of Salem, \bigskip

You each and all embody the corruption of Godgiven morality, and I condemn you on His behalf.
There is no excuse for your unjust convictions of myself, my wife, and our fellow countrymen.
Your rascality forces me to die for your indulgences---something no man ought face without cause, of which I know you to have had none for you heathens would have taken any confession, regardless of its truth simply to save your reputations.
My name has been preserved but not without the loss of fibrousness throughout the great providence of Massachussets.
Had I falsely confessed as you sinners wish, I would become equally corrupted; I would be a co-conspirator in the murder of my wife and of Rebecca.
And it is by your illicit errors.

Parris, you could not see past your own greed and conniptions.

Putnam and Goody Putnam, you have wrought upon us your ineptitudes, and you have permitted no man to escape your lust.
Both of you lust yet for power, for land, for wealth without bound.
It is not a Godfearing man's prerogative to accuse his fellows of wizardry and bewitching.
But it is that of a scoundrel.

And Abigail, you have committed the gravest sin yet: false witness, adultery, and disrespecting God Himself.
It is not my position that you are deserving of hanging or of burning at the stake.
But Abigail, girl, you have atonement yet far beyond any reasonable amount for any singular person.

God scowls at your souls, for the barbaric murder of Rebecca---the godliest woman any of you have set your eyes save Mary of Nazareth herself.
For the inhesitant killing of Elizabeth.
For thine false witness and thine worship of those other than Him.
For the ineptitude and for your inconsiderations.
How may you walk free from your sins when you could have prevented every death by your very own hands.

If Danforth were but an iota less hasty, if Parris had listened to but a fragment of Rebecca's words, if Abigail and her goons were not trusted beyond the word of god Himself, if Putnam had admitted to a singular falsity, if Corey's witness were not neglected beyond sense, perhaps I would not be hanged.

\bigskip
\noindent Yours truly,
%\noindent Fuck you,
\smallskip\noindent John Proctor

\title{``Enchanted Objects'' in the Great Gatsby}

In the Great Gatsby, Gatsby's enchanted object is the green light at the end of Daisy's dock.
Nick considers it to be enchanted or magcal because the green light is a symbol---a symbol of longing.
I have no enchanted object of similar magnitude to Gatsby's because I don't long for much; in fact, what could be considered an enchanted object is already close to me.
For my ``enchanted object,'' I would probably list something given to me as a gift by my grandmother---a small metal rod that vibrates at a particular frequency.
It, specifically, holds no special emotional or symbolic importance, but I value it greatly because it represents my family, somewhat.

Both my sisters and I have one of them, and I believe my grandmother got them from a trip oversease somewhere, and they are not unique or rare.
But I value it because the object is representative of her relationship with me and my immediate family.
She's an admirably giving person, and the small metal rod represents that despite its lack of intrinsic or attributed individual value.
Separate from Gatsby, I don't think the enchantment of the object could be lost---I already own it, and it's not associated with any longing or any conflict which could possibly be resolved at some point in the future.
So it is static.
The enchantment of the object is derived from a general sense of emotional attachment to it, but like Gatsby's enchantment, it is valuable and relevant.
The object holds value despite its materialism.

Topic I: Syrian Civil War

The issues surrounding the Syrian War number greatly.
The primary international concern is humanitarian aid---millions of fleeing, internally displaced, and trapped Syrians require costly and extensive aid (food, water, medicine) just to survive.
On the other side of the issue is multinational politics.
Terrorist groups like Da'esh, dozens of freedom fighter groups, the Assad regime and foreign nations all have different goals within the region---destabilizing it regardless repeat attempts to preserve human rights and cease the conflict.
The current ceasefire, while Saudi Arabia remains hopeful, likely won't last unless power transitions away from Assad's reign.
Saudi Arabia thanks the Kurdish rebellion groups for their efforts to prevent terrorism in the region and believes that, in cooperation with regional powers, such groups may be able to foster a sustainable, stable Syria.
However, in the meantime, a steady balance between providing for Syrian citizens' stable environment and placing the land under more humane leadership must be struck.

Saudi Arabia is constantly working towards these goals in every way it can.
During the heat of the conflict, this primarily consisted of supplying pro-democracy citizen resistance groups within the region to undermine Assad's offensive government and provide exit paths for endangered persons.
Saudi Arabia believes that more peaceful options should be explored promptly in order to prevent terrorist insurgency and allow Arabs to regain full use of the territory.
This should be prioritized to limit and reverse strain on neighboring countries from Syrian refugees, including Saudi Arabia's half million.
Saudi Arabia considers its own locality and stability highly relevant to

Questions:
- What can the international community do to help rebuild Syria in terms of infrastructure?

- Aside from giving financial aid, what else can the international community to further humanitarian causes and help both Syrian refugees living in other countries and the Syrians who have been displaced internally?
- How can the countries hosting large numbers of refugees be supported?
- What can be done to ensure peace in the region and prevent future fighting?
- Will the government in Syria be able to support its people? Should the United Nations support this government, and if so, how?
- How should the issue of terrorism in the area be addressed?
"tackling Daesh’s financing and economic infrastructure; preventing the flow of foreign terrorist fighters across borders; supporting stabilisation and the restoration of essential public services to areas liberated from Daesh; and countering the group’s propaganda."

\noindent {\bf Q1)} %2.2:32

The general solution of $2y' + ty = 2$ is, $y(t) = e^{-t^2/4} \int^t_0 e^{s^2/4}ds + ce^{-t^2/4}$.
The second term approaches 0 as $t\to\infty$, so it reduces to $$e^{-t^2/4} \int^t_0 e^{s^2/4}ds = {\int^t_0 e^{s^2/4}ds \over e^{t^2/4}}.$$
Applying L'hopital's Rule (with respect to $t$) because both functions trend towards infinity gives ${e^{t^2/4} \over {t\over2}e^{t^2/4}} = {2 \over t}$.
This shows that the solution trends asymptotically towards 0.

\noindent {\bf Q2)} %2.3:4

Let $Q$ be the concentration (in pounds per gallon) of the tank and $t$ be elapsed time.
Where $w$ is water amount, $${dw\over dt} = 1\to w = t+C = t+200.$$
$${dQ\over dt} = {3 - 2Q\over w} = {3 - 2Q\over t+200} \to {Q'\over 3-2Q} = {1\over 200+t}$$
$${d\over dt}-{1\over2}ln(3-2Q) = {Q'\over 3-2Q} = {1\over 200+t} \to -{1\over2}ln(3-2Q) = ln(200+t) + C$$$$
\to ln(3-2Q) = -2ln(200+t) + C \to Q = {3-e^{-2ln(200+t) + C}\over2}$$
Plugging in the initial value $Q(0) = {1\over2} = {3-e^{-2ln(200) + C}\over2} \to 2 = e^{-2ln(200) + C} = {C\over40000} \to C = 80000$.

At 500gal or 300min, $Q(300) = {3-e^{-2ln(200+300 + 80000)}\over2} \approx 1$.
The asymptotic concentration is the concentration of the water flowing in, $1{lb \over gal}$.
This means that, relatively quickly, the tank becomes as saline as the incoming stream.

\noindent {\bf Q3)} %2.4:4

This is discontinuous where $(4-t^2)=0 \to t \in {-2,2}$.
The initial value is $-3$, so the solution is guaranteed to exist on $t\in(-\infty, -2)$.
